Understanding Post Call Messages

When you make or end a call, your dialer may show a SIP response code. These codes explain the result of the call. This article will help you understand what each code means.

Meaning

Reason

200 OK

Request succeeded

Carrier confirms the call was answered on the PSTN

403 Forbidden

Request rejected

Call blocked due to permissions, blacklists, or config.

404 Not Found

Address not found

Carrier indicates the dialed PSTN number does not exist.

480 Temporarily Unavailable

The recipient's device or account is temporarily unreachable

The recipient's phone may be off, or provider rejecting a call.

486 Busy Here

Destination busy

Number dialed is busy.

487 Request Terminated

Call Canceled

The call was canceled before completion.

500 Server Internal Error

Server-side error/internal network problem

Can also be caused by local network problems.

503 Service Unavailable

Service not available

Carrier failed to process the call due to internal switch errors.

603 outgoing call barred

No calling credits

The account is out of Calling Credits.

In case of a concurring error, you have the most common fixes here:

Code 200: The request was successful and the call was completed as expected. No actions needed.

Code 403: The server understood the request but is refusing the call, often due to invalid credentials, geographic restrictions, or blocked access. For better understanding of the punctual case reach support.

Code 404: Check if the dialed number is correct, if calling outside the US & Canada, ensure you are also including the Country Code of the line (e.g., if calling UK, the number must start with +44).

Code 480: The recipient phone may be off, out of connectivity or the call is being rejected by the end carrier. You can reach out another time, if the issue persists contact support for more insights.

Code 486: The number called is currently busy, reach out another time.

Code 487: The call was cancelled before reaching the provider. This usually means no errors, re-attempt the call. If the issue persists reach support.

Code 500: It's recommended to perform a Hard Refresh of the app and attempt calling again. Also check if your internet connection is stable.

Code 503: The carrier service is temporarily unavailable, reach support for further insights.

Code 603: This message is displayed when a call fails because the company ran out of Calling Credits, your Administrator can resolve it following this instructions.
